Where's My Snow Day?

Chicago is getting our fair share of the snow today. It began last night and will continue through sometime tomorrow. We're supposed to get 12-14" inches by the time it's through. I know I can't complain too much because the East coast already has 30+ inches and more is on the way, but I still want to whine. Can I whine readers? I hate the snow! Right now it's snowing sideways. I'm not kidding - sideways. Oh and this morning, I had to run in the snow to the bus because the *awesome* city of Chicago decided to cut a ton of bus routes over the weekend. We don't need to get to work on time do we? So yeah, little old me had to run down the snowy sidewalks to my bus this morning, panting like a lunatic. I *just* made it too. I honestly don't know how I didn't fall. In addition to it snowing sideways, winds are supposed to pick up to 40 miles per hour. That will be awesome, don't you think? Can't wait. And no, I don't and will not get a snow day. That's the brakes when you live in a city full equipped to handle snow. Boo.

Oh well, while I watch it snow sideways out the window at work, I'm dreaming of some pretty new arrivals at Anthropologie this morning. Take a look.

All-The-Fixings Top. $68 by One.September. Item# 013043. Available in Gray and Moss. Ruffles, lace, AND pleats? Hello there little top - you're calling my name!

Tranquil Flow Tunic. $118 by Tabitha. Item# 013178. Available in Green Motif, Dark Grey, and Turquoise. Liquid silk with a single ruffle detail. I like the solid colors in this tunic - looks great with skinny jeans.

Femme Diversion Tunic. $88 by Fei. Item# 013049. This ladylike chambray tunic is right up my alley. It's got all the feminine details that I love. Can't wait to try it on.

Chalk and Charcoal Skirt. $88 by We Love Vera. Item# 023048. This darling skirt went on my wishlist the moment I saw it. I love black and white, and I adore the button-detailed waistband. They call it a mini, but at 20" long, I think it will work for me.

Scalloped Sailor Skirt. $88 by Idra. Item# 023104. A chambray, scalloped pencil skirt? I love this!! It's such a feminine touch on a classic pencil skirt.

Royal Poinciana Skirt. $78 by Edme & Esyllte. Item# 023046. I have a feeling this one will be too short for me, at 18", especially for work, but it's darling. I love the pink and green print.

Berry Bush Tights. $18 by Eloise. Now available in BLACK, people!!!! Item# 953598. I was SO excited to see the new color this morning I screamed!!! I definitely plan to pick the black version up soon!

That's all for now. Let me know what you think of the latest and greatest from our favorite store.

Don't forget, if you want to be included in tomorrow's Anthroholic Reader Outfits post, to please submit your photos to me by tonight at 9pm CT. Send them to berlyb33(at)gmail(dot)com. You do not need to be in head-to-toe Anthro! I've already gotten several great outfits from you lovely ladies!

Speaking of outfits, here's mine today. I'm a little wrecked and ravaged from the snow today. I don't know why I bother doing my hair on days like this. It gets all yucky and wavy in all the wrong spots after I spent time straightening it.
Speaking of hair, does anyone have a good recommendation for a 1.5" metal base curling iron? I need to replace mine!

From a Bud To a Bloom (OOTD)

Well my dear readers, it's a slow day in the land of Anthropologie. No new arrivals, no sale, nothing to really talk about :-( How sad. I will say that I'm busy working away on finding all of your items you posted over the weekend in the "Need Help Finding an Anthro Item" post. I also wanted to let you know that Roxy posted her Trade Market this morning, and you really should check it out. I even spied a few of your wants over there. So run!

I have a sad story to share this morning readers. I had to lay to rest a good friend of mine this morning. My curling iron. She's been really good to me too. I've had her for 9 years. Do you believe it? Well this morning she took a nasty tumble and now she's dead. The worst part is readers, she burned my wrist really terribly on the way down to the floor. Maybe she was angry that I dropped her, I don't now, but I have a huge, nasty burn on my wrist - she landed there and singed the heck out of me before she dropped to the floor and shattered into a ton of pieces. My boyfriend, god love him, felt so bad that he scrambled to pick up all the pieces of my curling iron and promised to try to super glue it together for me. Then he proceeded to put aloe vera on my poor, burned wrist and wrapped it up in an ace bandage for me.
Here's the result:

By the way, why do these things always break when I'm in between paydays? *Sigh*
I guess the bright side is, I had finished curling my hair at least.

Well you all know me enough by now to know that I won't let something like that get me too down. I also won't stop it from letting me dress cute. Bummed by the curling iron incident, I dressed extra cute today.
I absolutely LOVE this dress. It's from Spring 2009 at Anthro (duh!) and is called the Bud-To-Bloom Dress by Floreat. I had to have this the minute I spotted it in the store one day while shopping with my future mother-in-law. Even she knew when she saw it. She said "oh that's a Kim dress". Like a good girl, I waited for it to go on sale, and then my fabulous friend, Sandy from the fashion forum fashionism.org, snagged it for me and shipped it to me (it was sold out in my size in my stores). Thanks Sandy!
One of the best parts about this dress is the back - I adore the buttons. Check it out.

Cardigan: The Limited (last year?)
Dress: Anthropologie Floreat Bud-To-Bloom Dress
Black Tights: Simply Vera for Kohl's (click here) (seriously, these are the best opaque tights - super opaque and NOT shiny - i hate shiny tights!)
Black Pumps: Jessica Simpson Brenda (click here)
Necklace: Forever 21 (click here)

So despite the death of a great curling iron and a nasty burn, I'm still determined to have a good day and I hope you all do too! Thanks to everyone who wished Simon a Happy Birthday yesterday - he sends hugs and kisses :-)

OOTD For A Wiener Dog's Birthday Party

Today is the anniversary of one of the happiest days of my life. It's the day my son, Simon Birch (aka the wiener dog) was born. Yep, that's right, 3 years ago today, the other love of my life was born. The boyfriend and I had our hearts set on a mini dachshund for our first dog together. I was surfing the internet one evening looking for breeders and I stumbled upon a website for a mini dachshund breeder in Indiana. I started looking through her photos and then it happened. I laid eyes on this guy right here.

That was it. SOLD. I mean would you be able to resist that? He was ours just 1 week later. And today we're celebrating his 3rd birthday. They grow up too fast! We cooked the little man a steak on the grill today for his special day, took him for a walk around the neighborhood, and best of all, he's got a special, peanut butter flavored doggie cake coming his way. He got spoiled with new toys and lots of hugs and kisses.
I took a few pictures of him earlier too.

Oh and then there's me. Here's what the birthday boy's momma wore today for his special day. I mean, come on, I had to look good for my little guy.

Cardigan: Jcrew Chateau Cardi in Sand (Circa 2007)
Top: Anthro (circa 2007)
Necklace: Express (Circa 2005?)
Jeans: Forever 21 $12.50 skinnies (check your stores!)
Boots: Jessica Simpson Angie in Saddle (click here)
Coat: Anthropologie Elevenses Checkered, Please Jacket
Gloves: Anthropologie (Circa 2007)

Have a great Sunday everyone.

Need Help Finding an Anthro Item: I'm Here To Help

Welcome to the weekly installment of "Need Help Finding an Anthro Item". Before posting, please read the guidelines so we can all utilize this feature correctly.

I consider myself a bit of an Anthropologie super sleuth/stalker. I'm pretty good at finding older items, as I scour eBay daily. I'm also really good at tracking down info on items and have a few resources up my sleeve. So I'm here to help you guys.

Post here for the following :
~ Do you have an anthro item you missed out on that you'd like me to stalk in my eBay searches? Post it here. Names and/or pics are helpful.
~ Miss out on a more recent item and it's sold out online? Post here and I'll try to help you locate one in stores.
~ Need info about an anthro item- like an item name, season an item is from, etc? Post here.
~ Need an item # for something you're trying to find? Post here and I'll find it.
~ Blog readers: please pipe in with any info you may have too! I want everyone to help each other out! Maybe you saw something at your store, or know how to find it. Please post and respond!
~ Need general Anthro info? I'll help!

The purpose of this post is not a market. If you would like to buy/sell/swap, please visit Roxy's wonderful Trade Market at Effortless Anthropologie right here. It's a great resource for all your buying/selling needs.

So let me and the other community members know what you need help with. This eBay/Anthro queen is ready to put on her sleuthing cap!

Proof I'm good at this? Last week, I helped a reader find her much sought-after Bull's Eye Dress, I helped other find some Anthro shoes, got the names of older Anthro items for some readers, among other requests from readers!

Everyday I Check Anthropologie.com For....

A review of the Pictureshow Dress by Tracy Reese. Everyday since it showed up online. And everyday there's nothing. This led me to believe that the dress wasn't in stores yet.

Well readers, today I checked for a review online. AND OMG THERE IS A REVIEW!!!!

*And the review has 5 STARS people*!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's what CrispyLeaves from Orange County, CA has to say about the Pictureshow Dress:

Overall Rating: 5 out of 5

Classic Heirloom Dress, February 4, 2010
By CrispyLeaves from Orange County, CA (read all my reviews)

Aesthetic/design: 5 out of 5
Quality: 5 out of 5

Pros: beautiful design, quality
Cons: fit, price

"This is a dress I will keep forever and ever! The picture makes it look just a bit pink, but it's a nude color. Very neutral. The skirt is very flouncy and fun. The only problem I have with it is that I do NOT have the bust to fill out the front. But that's because this dress in a size 0 isn't for a size A cup person. I think a good B cup should fill it out. And because I don't have the boobs for this, I have to have the shoulders tightened because they keep slipping off my shoulders. Overall design is great! But just not made for a petite person. And the skirt hits at just the right length to be flirty."

HOORAY!!!!! I'm jumping up and down. You know why? Because I have a C cup chest - which means, I should fill out the top of this dress beautifully!! I'm going to my store tonight to see if it's arrived. You know what this means don't you readers? This dress is in the running for my 30th birthday party dress next month. I have to make a decision soon, so as soon as I try this one on, I'll be posting a poll with all the options.

Ok, you'll be able to see the excitement on my face over the ONE dress review (I really have high hopes, don't I?) in my outfit of the day pictures. I'm grinning like an idiot and even did half a curtsy while taking these photos. I'm such a nerd. Imagine if someone would have seen me in the bathroom doing a friggin' curtsy. Oh dear. I just couldn't help it - between the glowing review of my dress, the chance it may be in stores, and the fact that this skirt is full and makes you want to twirl, I just couldn't help it.

Top: Anthropologie Wind-Ripped Tee in Gray (item# 910266)
Skirt: The Limited (Spring 2009)
Tights: Gray Cable Simply Vera for Kohl's (click here)
Boots: Jessica Simpson Angie in Saddle (click here)
Belt: Anthropologie Synapse Belt in Brown (on sale in stores for $19.95)
Bracelet: Tiffany (gift from the boyfriend)

Lastly, please check out my items still for sale over at The Anthroholic Store here. I've dropped prices! I'll be listing everything on eBay Sunday night if they don't sell on the blog. Thanks to everyone who did purchase and Happy Shopping everyone!

Some Lust-Worthy New Arrivals at Anthro + My Whirling Winding Outfit of the Day

Happy Thursday my darling readers! It's one day closer to the weekend. I'm in a much better mood today, and not feeling like a bloated, disgusting mess. Yesterday really was a blah day. Thank you all so much for your positive comments. My readers are the best :-) I also wanted to thank everyone who's participated in the Weekly Anthroholic Reader Outfit submissions and encourage you to keep sending me your outfit pictures! This feature has become a huge success thanks to all of you, and I'm so happy! I've already gotten some great outfits for next week's post, so keep them coming. Send all outfit pics to: berlyb33(at)gmail(dot)com.

I noticed in yesterday's comments, that my lovely reader, Chrissy, pointed out a new arrival over at Anthro that she thought was very Kim, and my were you right Chrissy! Let's take a look at that and the other lovely new arrivals Anthro has to offer.

Rippling Pond Jacket. $148 by Tabitha. Item# 103190. This is the "Kim" jacket Chrissy pointed out, and the minute I saw it, I gasped. Chrissy was right, it's very me. I love how you readers know me and my style now! I love everything about this jacket. The neutral color, the 3/4 sleeves, the ruffle collar, and the cinched-tie waist. I have a good feeling this one will be coming home with me. Thank you Chrissy for igniting a new lust!

Tree Poppy Tank. $98 by Yoana Baraschi. Item# 013129. This tank is adorable! I just love the chiffon, polka dot petals at the neckline, but $98? I'll be waiting for a sale.

Storybrook Tank. $68 by Little Yellow Button. Item# 013115. The solid version of the Ode To Spring Tank released last week. Super cute, but I prefer the plaid version.

Roots & Wings Tunic. $98 by Bailey 44. Item# 013117. Gray cotton jersey with a smocked waist. Looks figure-flattering and comfy.

Pointe-De-Venise Tank. $68 by Bordeaux. Item# 013103. Available in Grey and Ivory. I am in love with the ivory. I love the floating lace detail. The gathered neckline detail is impeccable. I can't wait to try this darling top on. On the wishlist!

Crossroads Buttondown. $78 by Fei. Item# 013175. Available in Blue and Red Motif. I'm a sucker for plaid and an even bigger sucker for ruffles. Looks like a winning combo. This is like Jcrew meets Anthro.

Four Points Camisole. $78 by Odille. Item# 013135. A fitted bodice, a pointed hem. Cobalt blue trimmed in navy and white. Looks unique and flattering.

Falling Strands Blouse. $228 by Leifsdottir. Item# 013089. Dear Leifsdottir, please lower your prices on pretty, sunny blouses that make me happy. I know your quality is good, but seriously?

Whorled Roses Tank. $88 by Yoana Baraschi. Item# 013048. Available in Beige and Blue. Haven't I seen this somewhere before? Didn't J.Crew already do something super similar? Anyhow, I can't decide if I like this or hate it. Looks like it could be horribly unflattering or surprisingly cute. Anyone tried it on?

Monukka Dress. $168 by Girls From Savoy. Item# 033022. This shadow-striped frock sure is pretty with its crochet baubles that hang like grapes from the neck. I love the belted waist and gathered neckline. It has that vintage vibe that I love.

Curvy Shift. $118 by Deletta. Item# 033058. Available in Dark Grey and Blue. This dress is sure to please a lot of ladies. It's a simple ponte shift with some stretch. It darts, tucks, and pleats in all the right places, and the corset-like structure is sure to give anyone a figure-flattering shape. I can't wait to try this on. What girl doesn't love a shift?

Hello, Good Day Dress. $118 by Little Yellow Button. Item# 033010. I love dresses that look like two pieces. This looks like a simple tee tucked into an adorable, nautical-inspired skirt, tied off at the waist. This is the type of dress you can just throw on and go in the summer, which I love. The only that concerns me is that it looks wide at the hips, and what lady wants her hips to look wider?!

Nearly Gossamer Cardigan. $88 by Knitted & Knotted. Item# 013243. Available in Ivory and Gray. I love how the ivory looks like it has a blush cast to it. This is already on my wishlist. I'm loving the pointelle flouced bottom half and I'm insane for the tiny rosette buttons! Lightweight cardigans like this are a staple for me in the spring and summer.

AG Stevie Skinny. $168. Item# 923445. Available in Denim Rinsed and Tinted. I'm a huge, huge fan of skinny jeans. In fact, those are the only kind of jeans I really wear anymore. They're so flattering and they go with everything. I've never tried AG Jeans, but these look really nice. Anyone have experience with AG?

Air Mail Skirt. $98 by Edme & Esyllte. Item# 013193. Um, how flippin' cute is this skirt?! It has postage stamps all over it! Where else could you find a skirt like this!

Kensington Jacket. $478 by Leifsdottir. Item# 013013. Oh Leifsdottir, this coat might just push me over the edge. Gasp, it's SO pretty. It's like a rain of sunshine just for Spring. My favorite part is the grosgrain ribbon trim and the sash at the waist. Wouldn't you feel just like a London girl attending high tea in this?

Hand-Tied Cardigan. $78 by Saturday/Sunday. Item# 053132. Available in Gray or Brown. I swear to God, Anthro has the cutest loungewear you'll ever find. I'm not much into hoodies, but when I need something cute to lounge in, I head to Anthro. Who doesn't want to look adorable even while lying around the house? The awesome part with this is, you would look cute wearing this out too!

Well that wraps up the newest arrivals from Anthro. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm on serious cute-new arrival-overload at Anthropologie lately. There are so many pretty things I want, and they just keep rolling out more! So weigh in readers- what do you love and what do you hate from the latest batch?

So I've been asked before how I come up with my outfits everyday. Do I plan them the night before, the week before, or do I just throw them together in the morning. The answer is: all of the above. Quite honestly, most of the time, random outfit ideas pop into my head at all hours of the day. Just last night, while driving around town, this one popped into my head. I had a vision of wearing this dress with this cardigan for a while now, but I couldn't pinpoint the whole look in my head. Enter last night - I thought ohhhhh my booties would look killer with that oufit. Throw in some pearls and we've got a winner! I feel very lady-like and vintagey today.

Dress: Anthropologie Whirling Ruffles Sweaterdress (item# 930102 if you want to track down in a store)
Cardigan: J.Crew Dapple Dot Cardigan
Necklace: Forever 21

Have a great day everyone!

Just being honest and letting all my readers know that I do indeed have my off days, and plenty of them.
Anyhow, here's my oufit and I'm wearing my new shoes again, which seriously are the most insanely comfortable things ever. I cannot rave about all three of my Anthro shoes I've been wearing lately. They're all so comfy. So if you're worried they aren't worth the money, they are!
